The Rev. Arch Taylor, a retired mission worker with years of experience in Japan, sends us this short letter of his, which was published on Nov. 30 in the Louisville, KY, Courier-Journal.

A Kissinger cover-up?

President Bush reluctantly gave in to the wishes of families of victims to appoint a commission, headed by Henry Kissinger, to investigate the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. According to Jennifer Loven of Associated Press, "Bush did not set as a primary goal for Kissinger to uncover mistakes or lapses of the government that could have prevented the Sept. 11 attacks." (Courier-Journal Nov 28)

Putting Kissinger in charge guarantees that the final report will include no hint of incompetence or (God forbid!) criminal negligence by anyone in the Bush administration. No one is better qualified than Kissinger for such a cover up job. Under the Nixon administration, it was this very Kissinger who had a leading part in plotting the coup that overthrew the democratically elected government of Chile. Kissinger consistently supported General Augusto Pinochet during his 17-year-long reign of terror. It all began in 1973 with another terrorist attack on another Sept. 11.
